| 1 loaf | dense white country bread, cut into 3/4-inch slices | |
| 1 clove | garlic, cut in half | |

| A few grains | salt | |
Steps
- Place thick slices of bread on a heated grill (or on a baking sheet under a broiler) and toast until golden-brown on both sides.
- Remove the bread from the grill and rub each piece with a halved garlic clove. Place the bread on a plate and drizzle it with the olive oil.
- Sprinkle each piece with a few grains of salt and serve immediately with your choice of toppings.
