What Makes a Great Boxed White Wine?
Some everyday wine drinkers consider boxed wine to be a well-kept secret. Boxed white wine can be just as good as wine in bottles, while its bag-in-a-box packaging prevents oxidation and results in a much longer shelf life. Ideal with seafood and lighter meals, boxed white wine is portable and easily opened—great for informal parties, picnics and family cookouts.
Our chefs define high-quality boxed Chablis wine as having a complex aroma that is clearly recognized when you hold the wine under your nose. The taste profile should lead with moderate sweetness from the fruit, followed by an acidity that balances the sweetness and delivers a crisp finish. The flavor of Chablis should have some complexity, a medium body and a clean, crisp finish.
A high-quality boxed chardonnay wine should also have a complex aroma and a taste profile that are similar to those of Chablis. The character of chardonnay should have some complexity with emerging fruit notes of green apple, pear and melon. Like the Chablis, chardonnay should also have a medium body with a clean, crisp finish.
